DISCIPLESHIP SERVICE ROLES
Men’s Meals
Do you love to cook or just love to learn new things? Then this is the role for you! Come and put your cooking skills to use and serve our community a delicious home cooked meal! We believe that preparing meals with our hands and then serving students is an act of worship and a way to glorify God with our talents and through service. It doesn’t matter what level of experience you have with cooking, you will learn! And you’ll have fun and make friends doing it!
Weekly Hours: 1-5pm for cooking, 5:15-7:30 for serving/cleaning (Tuesdays)
Pancakes
Pancakes discipleship members are responsible for showing up every other Friday to help with setup, execution and cleanup of our weekly Pancakes Night. They will be a part of a group chat (either through text or GroupMe) with a Pancakes leader, are expected to interact in the group chat, and be at the CSF building on time when their leader says they need to be there. Discipleship team members are HIGHLY encouraged to hangout with their teams outside of Pancakes!!
Bi-Weekly Hours: 9:45-1:30am (Every other Friday)
Shift Meals
Do you love to cook or just love to learn new things? Then this is the role for you! We believe that preparing meals with our hands and serving students is an act of worship and a way to glorify God with our talents and through service. It doesn’t matter what level of experience you have with cooking, we will teach you! And you’ll have fun and make friends while learning! This team will equip you to use your natural skills and talents and grow in your knowledge of cooking, baking, and creativity!
Weekly Hours: 1-5:30pm for cooking, 5:45-7:30 for serving (Mondays)
Synergy Hospitality
The hospitality team is one of the biggest champions of making Synergy feel like home. We want everyone who enters the building to have multiple points of contact and make them feel known. We want to know names and get them connected in our community so no one sits alone. You can serve as a Greeter, helping out with drinks, and by giving Name Tags.
Weekly Hours: 7-8pm (Thursdays)
Synergy Meals (PSP)
Any chefs in the house?! This role is for the Pre/Post Synergy Parties (PSP). PSP is what keeps people around after Synergy to create community and lasting friendship. Students in this area help cook the meals and help create their own community in the kitchen and beyond. Wanna make new friends while whipping up a mean buffalo chicken dip? This is the service role for you.
Bi-Weekly Hours: 3-4 hours cooking Thursday afternoon (3-6pm) before Synergy
Synergy Setup
The setup team is charged with making our spaces feel like home from the minute people walk into the building. They make sure every chair, every coffee card, and every pen is in the right place and that the building is an inviting place before people arrive.
Weekly Hours: 5:00-5:30pm (Thursdays)
Tech
The Tech Team exists to help other ministry areas at CSF (mainly Synergy and Shift) succeed in their mission to reach campus by providing technical support. Students on the team serve by running cameras, clicking through slides, running lights and more. NO EXPERIENCE IS NECESSARY!! We train on absolutely everything, so if you want to learn something new and serve behind the scenes, this is a great option!
Hours: TOTAL – 2.5 Hours Every Other Week (Synergy)
LEADERSHIP ROLES
Building Team
Got a heart to help? Building Team is the place for you! CSF is on a mission to be the most hospitable place in the galaxy and this role plays a huge part in making that a reality! There’s so many different opportunities to serve on this team! Whether it’s building inventory, maintenance or cleaning, mowing the lawn, or lending a hand to a fellow brother or sister in need, Building Team has a wealth of options for you to choose from!
Weekly Hours: 2-5 hours / week (No Care Group)
Core Group Leaders
Student Core Group leaders help co-lead a group of 6-12 sophomore-senior students through our bible study curriculum. In addition to prayer, prep, and facilitating conversation, students are a part of a biweekly leadership group. Biweekly groups are focused on equipping leaders on how to lead a group and equip leaders to grow into spiritual and emotional maturity.
Weekly Hours: ~6 Hours a Week
Prep for Group: 1-2 Hours/Week
Care Group/Accountability: 1.5 Hours Every Other Week
Facilitating Core Group: 2 Hours/ Week
Time with group outside of group: 1-3 Hours/Week
Creative Media
Have you ever wanted to get a behind the scenes look at all our photos, videos, and social media posts? This team is for you! You’ll learn lots of awesome skills about photography, videography, editing, and all sorts of other cool media stuff! You will help communications team shoot content and brainstorm promo for all events going on around CSF. No prior photo/video experience is required, just a willingness and a desire to learn!
Weekly Hours: 2-3 Hours
Care Group: 1.5 Hours Biweekly
Faith & Film
A leader with faith and film will learn to be a movie connoisseur (no previous film knowledge required)!! It will be required that you’ll be willing to lead/host a movie once per semester, doing more than one is up to you. You will help choose the films we watch every other week, help create insightful and gospel driven post-film discussions, and get to add your own personality and creative flare to the nights that you run!! On the nights you aren’t running the event you’ll be there to help with popcorn and snacks and just to enjoy the movies. You will also get a base level of tech knowledge and hopefully a deeper love for the film world!
Biweekly Hours: 7:30-11pm Every Other Friday (Host Movie + Lead Discussion)
Faith & Forest
A leader for Faith & Forest will be working with f&f staff to further our vision of creating a space for students to encounter God through His creation by being outdoors and having a shared experience through challenging and unfamiliar activities. They will join us in our weekly meetings for planning and prayer and will help us organize events, solos, and other hangouts throughout the year.
Biweekly meetings: 1 Hour
Biweekly prayer meeting: 1 hour.
1 Outing per month (optional)
Men’s Meals
What is the best way to a man’s heart? Through his stomach of course!! That is exactly what we want to do by helping out the Men’s Ministry team. These leaders will communicate with students on the Men’s Meals team and take the lead on preparing the recipes for weekly dinners. Most of your service will be done on Tuesdays, cooking and serving the meals.
Weekly Hours: 5-7 Hours + Care Group 1x per month
Men’s Ministry
Calling all MEN. Are you passionate about sharing the love of Jesus with other guys and growing together to become stronger men of God? Men’s Ministry leaders will work alongside some of our male staff in constant outreach to the men of UK. Outreach can look like watch parties, Tuesday night hoops, or other events as this ministry grows! We want our student leaders to take charge of the events and work to support them in creating and hosting events for guys in our ministry. Leaders will be ambassadors on and around campus, as well as helping plan & set up events for men’s gatherings.
Biweekly meetings: 30 minutes every other week
Weekly hours: 2-3 hours attending watch parties and other events.
Pancakes
Ready. Set. Flip! Pancakes leaders are responsible for texting team members when they are scheduled to serve, preparing a devotion for pancakes setup, doing various tasks to run pancakes, and keeping energy up throughout the night! They are also responsible for coming up with outside hangouts for the students on their team (maybe like 2 hangouts a semester). Additionally, Pancakes leaders are a part of a leader care group where they will get poured into by a staff member!
Bi-Weekly Hours: 5 Hours Every Other Week (Biweekly Team Meeting + Leading Pancakes) + Care Group 1-2x per Month
Prayer
Want to grow in your prayer life?? Join the Prayer Team! Prayer leaders will be equipped in biweekly care groups, expected to pray 45 minutes before Synergy (Intercession)/during Synergy (Prayer Invitation), as well as join 3pm prayer for common hour practice once a week.
Weekly Hours: 45 minutes before Synergy, 20 minutes during, join 3 O’Clock Prayer, and attend Care Group every other week
Shift Group Leaders
Freshmen wander the aimless halls of the University of Kentucky. Who’s gonna make them feel at home? WE ARE! Shift Group leaders co-lead weekly small groups for freshmen students at UK! Shift Group leaders also help host our weekly Monday night dinners. They set an example for freshmen by showing them what it’s like to have a relationship with God in college. By inviting them into deep friendship, freshmen are able to taste the good life and love of Jesus. In addition to all of this, leaders will be assigned to a Tribe (a leader care group) that meets bi-weekly. Because of our mutual love for freshmen, Shift leaders and Shift staff become a family through serving them.
Weekly Hours: 5-6 Hours / Week
Prep for Group: 1 Hour
Shift Program: 1.5 Hours Every Monday 6-7:30pm
Facilitating Shift Group: 1.5 Hours / Week
Outside Meetups with Freshmen: 1-2 Hours / Week
Shift Tribe: 1 Hour Bi-weekly
Shift Meals
Wanna feed the five thousand? You’ve come to the right place! Shift Meals leaders direct students in cooking Shift meals for freshmen! These leaders will communicate with students on the Shift Meals team and take the lead on preparing the recipes for weekly Shift dinners. Most of your service will be done on Monday afternoons, cooking and serving the meals.
Weekly Hours: 5-7 Hours
Care group: 1 hour 2x a month
Synergy Hospitality
Hospitality leaders encourage and empower discipleship students in their different roles to cultivate the most hospitable atmosphere at CSF. Hospitality Leaders gain valuable leadership experience by leading rundowns, giving discipleship students roles for the night, and praying over their team. Rundown is also an opportunity for leaders to cast a vision for the hospitality role and the impact of welcoming and connecting with everyone who comes to CSF.
Bi-Weekly hours: 2 hours (Care Group), 1.5 hours (Leading Rundown)
Synergy Meals (PSP)
This role is for the Pre/Post Synergy Parties (PSP). PSP is what keeps people around after Synergy to create community and lasting friendship. No kitchen expertise required, just come ready to learn! Leaders in this area help delegate roles in the kitchen, dream up new meals and snacks for future PSPs, and create their own community in the kitchen and beyond.
Bi-Weekly Hours: 3:00-6:00pm (Thursdays)
Synergy Setup
The Setup Leader maintains the vision for the team and keeps up with the team schedule. Furthermore, when the room is finished being setup, the Setup Leader is in charge of leading a game of hangman with the rest of the students to build team camaraderie. The team leaders will fill in holes and keep the other students on task with setting up for the night. The team leader is welcome to attend the weekly Synergy team meeting and communicate important details to the team at least once a month. The setup team will be assigned a Team A or Team B to co-lead.
Weekly Hours: 2 (Weekly Team Meeting)
Biweekly hours: 1 (Leading Setup every other week)
Care Groups once a month for 1 hr
Tech
A leader on the tech team will more extensively learn the ins and outs of tech at CSF. They will be asked to fill more technical roles for Shift/Synergy, and they will help train up new students on the team. When a staff member from the tech team is absent, leaders are responsible for leading other team members well and making sure they feel welcome and appreciated. Listening for issues, praising when appropriate, etc. Leaders may also be asked to help with special events outside of the normal Shift and Synergy.
Weekly Hours: TOTAL – 3.5-4.5 hours weekly
3 hours every other week when serving at Synergy
1 hour every week for team meeting
Worship Team
